UCPN (Maoist) vice chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai has said peoples strike which Maoist launching from May 1 is for sustainable peace in the country.

The party on Monday announced the general strike from May 2 until the government step down.

Dr Bhattarai ensured general strike will not lead country to conflict. \"Strike will be peace\" interaction with artist at Minbhawan in his resident he said \"if you doubt you may monitor in your leadership\".

Key artist of Nepal Rajesh Hamal, Madan Krishna Shrestha, Singer Aani Chhongma Dolma, human rights activist Sushil Pyakurel and other civil society leaders were in that meeting.

Artist Rajesh Hamal said if the country lead to conflict Dr Bhattarai should lead the country for the peace with progress. \"We are ready to support him\" he said to media after the meeting.
